hiiii friends......
Most of u must be thinking that all your struggles, pains, hardwork, etc. will come to an end once you crack JEE or AIEEE.But the reality is no where near to our imagination. There was a time when even I thought the same and put all my labour and hard work to clear these entrance exams. But after entering into NIT I realised that the older we grow more the efforts we have to put to take up the challenges.Getting a 9 points CGPA is not at all going to help. You need to be good in every stream, need to be participating in as many technical events as possible, develop the personality and most important of all to grow as a responsible human. Now that time is gone when the companies selected students on the basis of academic performance, what every companies want is a complete man.
The very first day I came here to NIT Rourkela I felt like being in some hell sort of place. All new faces and neither of them speaking in English or Hindi. All of my room mates belonged to Orissa and were talking among themselves in Oriya.Looking at these situations I decided to stay with Papa in the Rest House that night. The next morning I put some courage and decided to stay in the hostel that day.The time table was pasted in the notice board. We had our classes 5 days in a week morning 8 to evening 5.15 with a lunch of 75 min in between. In addition to this 8 hrs class we also have 5 km compulsory jogging twice in a week only for the 1st yrs.The two days in the week when we get to relax a bit i.e. on saturdays n sundays were taken by NSS in which we have to go to remote places to teach the children in the slum. But the worst of all things was that Byks were not allowed inside the campus. We used cycles as the means of transport but that too was banned by our seniors as ragging.
With all such challenges the first few days gone very bad but as the days passed the conditions got better and better.I was damn happy to see two of my school friends in the college with me in the 1st year.We have now made our group of students from our zone (MP & CG ).We have some 11 boys in our group and there is a great unity among our zone mates.Every weekend we have late night parties at 3 stars.Even with this busy scheduled we are able to mange time for fun and other extra curricular activities.Even my room mates got very frank with me and most of the time they speak up in Hindi.
And now after 6 months have passed when I think about all these I can say that I got to learn a lot from all these challenges.I walked into the college as a child but now I have developed into a man.And one last thing I would like to say is inspite of all these "I AM PROUD TO BE A NITRian"
